As a young person who did not have dental insurance for many years, I finally landed a great job and needed to get my dental care back on track with the professionals. I was sad and scared when I was told I had a dental implant failing (placed when I was 15 by unknown dr in Dallas area) that needed to be removed. It was not giving me any trouble that i could notice, but the x-rays showed there was bone loss and it was either deal with it now or wait til it becomes a bigger problem. My awesome dentist, Dr Adrian Bernal referred me to Dr Matthew Largent as they have worked together. Not only was I pleased to see many other reviews of satisfied patients, my initial consultation with Dr Largent went great and I left with a reassured feeling. Having done a great deal of research pertaining to my situation, I knew the route I wanted to take, and Dr Largent really did explain each option that i had. The dental implant was to be extracted with a bone graft procedure to repair lost bone. His casual but professional approach to talking me through my situation put me at ease and I felt like I was in good hands. He is young with a bright and energetic personality but old enough to have 18 years of experience under his belt. My case requires technical sensitivity and he and his great assistant, John, executed my surgery in an hour. Like any other tooth extraction, I was condemned to chipmunk cheek, soup, and restraint from my tequila drinking and smoking vices for the weekend. Beyond the obvious initial discomfort on the first day, I barely needed my pain meds, and only used them for the first 2 days. I just had my 1 week follow up and I am healing perfectly. I'll get my stitches out in a couple weeks and a few healing months down the road, I will definitely consult Dr. Largent when it's time to get a proper dental implant replacement.
